If you were approved for a federal tax extension and have no state tax balance due, the State of Delaware will automatically grant you a 5 1/2 month tax extension. If you need to make a tax payment, or you weren't approved for a federal tax extension, you'll need to submit Delaware Form 1027.

Filing for a Delaware tax extension will not give you more time to pay any tax balance due, which must be paid by April 30 to avoid possible penalties.

If you already received an approval notification from ExpressExtension, and you don't need to make a tax payment, then you're all done.

For Corporations, the State of Delaware requires that you file for a business state income tax extension form 1100, whether you owe state income taxes or expect a refund. If the form is completed accurately and turned in on time, you'll be granted a six month tax extension.

For Partnerships and LLCs filing as partnerships, extension of time to file returns may be obtained by submitting a copy of the Federal Extension Application on or before the due date of the partnership return. A copy of the approved federal extension must be attached to the final return.

Filing a Delaware tax extension does not grant you extra time to pay any tax balance due. Your balance must be paid by your original tax deadline to avoid possible penalties.
